The gap between 'the house is dark and getting cold' and 'everything important works' is much smaller — in kilowatts and dollars — than the gap between 'everything important' and 'literally everything simultaneously.' The 14kW Guardian lives on the smart side of that curve.
Modern load-management modules make mid-size standbys far more capable than their rating suggests: the generator sheds the water heater for the minutes the AC compressor is starting, then restores it. You genuinely won't notice. What you will notice is the project coming in $2,500–$4,000 under a 24kW install.
Best for: Homes under ~2,500 sq ft, or anyone prioritizing automatic operation over running every load at once.
