Champion applied its portable-generator value playbook to standbys, and its units undercut equivalent Generac bundles by a meaningful margin while carrying a longer warranty. The engineering is solid — the −22°F cold-start rating is better than most of the category.
The honest caveat is the network. Standby generators need annual service and the occasional warranty visit; Generac's installer density makes that trivially easy almost everywhere, while Champion's is regional. Search for a Champion-servicing dealer within an hour of you before you order. If one exists, this is the value pick; if not, pay the Generac premium.
