The 56235i delivers what most people actually need from a small inverter — sub-60 dBA noise, 39-pound portability, clean power, fuel shutoff for clean carb storage — at a price that makes it an easy yes. It won't match the Honda's decade-after-decade durability, and its 1,900 running watts carry the same limits. As a first inverter or occasional-use machine, it's the value standout.

WEN's whole brand is 'the sensible cheap option,' and the 56235i is their best product. The spec sheet trades punches with generators costing twice as much, and the fuel-shutoff switch — which lets the engine burn the carburetor dry before storage — addresses the actual way budget generators die: stale fuel varnish.
Buy it knowing what it is. Owner reviews at year one are glowing; at year five they're merely good. For a machine that runs a few weekends a year and the occasional outage, that math strongly favors the $400 unit over the $1,100 one. For weekly commercial use, it doesn't.
Best for: First-time buyers, occasional campers, and backup duty for a fridge and small electronics.
