Westinghouse WGen14500TFc Tri-Fuel Review
14,500 running watts on gas, propane, or natural gas — the Westinghouse tri-fuel for homes that don't need the WGen20000TFc's full 20,000.

The verdict
The WGen14500TFc fills a gap Westinghouse's own lineup had left wide open: the WGen9500DF tops out at 9,500 running watts and the next step was the WGen20000TFc, more than double the output and the price. At 14,500 running watts tri-fuel, this is the mid-large Westinghouse that behaves like a scaled-down flagship — same CO sensor, same remote start, same 50A outlet — for homes whose central AC and well pump don't need 20,000 watts of headroom.

What we like
- +14,500 running / 18,000 peak watts (gas) — fills the gap in Westinghouse's own lineup between the WGen9500DF and the 20,000-watt flagship
- +Tri-fuel: gasoline, propane, or natural gas, with unlimited runtime once plumbed to a gas line
- +14-50R 50A outlet plus L14-30R — transfer-switch ready for whole-essentials-plus backup
- +Remote key-fob start, CO sensor auto-shutoff, sub-5% THD safe for electronics
- +Meaningfully cheaper and over 200 lb lighter than the WGen20000TFc for homes that don't need its full 20,000 watts
What to know
- −348 lb — a two-person machine, wheel kit or not
- −74 dBA, like every open-frame Westinghouse this size
- −Natural-gas derate cuts output to 11,600 running watts — size your NG expectations accordingly
- −At $2,700 it's priced above the DuroMax XP15000HXT (~$2,500) for similar real-world capability — compare the load math, not just the badge
Full review
Westinghouse's portable lineup used to jump straight from the 9,500-running-watt WGen9500DF to the 20,000-watt WGen20000TFc, a gap wide enough that most buyers landed on a DuroMax or a WEN tri-fuel instead just to find something in between. The WGen14500TFc closes that gap from inside Westinghouse's own catalog: 14,500 running watts and 18,000 peak on gasoline, tri-fuel capable, built around the same 713cc cast-iron-sleeved V-twin that powers the brand's bigger machines.
The fuel-flexibility story is identical to every other tri-fuel Westinghouse: propane for shelf-stable storage, natural gas for runtime that never runs out once a plumber adds the quick-connect, and gasoline in reserve for the first days of an outage before the NG line's derate (11,600 running watts) becomes the number that matters. A 14-50R 50A outlet and remote key-fob start carry over from the flagship, and sub-5% THD means every device in the house is safe on it, not just the tolerant ones.
The real competitive question is DuroMax's XP15000HXT, which runs 12,000 watts for about $200 less — close enough that the choice comes down to brand loyalty and the extra 2,500 running watts, not a clear win either way. Against Westinghouse's own WGen20000TFc, the case is simpler: if your load math tops out around 10,000–14,000 watts, this is the right-sized Westinghouse, and the money saved over the 20,000-watt flagship is real.
Best for: Westinghouse households whose essential-plus-comfort load math lands between the XP15000HXT-class tri-fuels and the WGen20000TFc flagship — central AC plus most of the house, without the 20,000-watt machine's size or price.
